MISS IRELAND GONE TO THE DOGS

Beauty will be a beast at the first ever Miss & Mr Mutt Ireland!

This beauty pageant with a difference will choose a male and female dog from each county in Ireland who will later battle it out at a grand final in Dublin. It will be open to all dogs, pedigree and crossbreed. The contestants will be judged on beauty, noise, poise, talent and intelligence. The heat winners will receive a prize and a sash while the overall winners will of course along with a price receive a crown!

"The contest itself will be simply good fun and an opportunity to raise some money for local shelters in each place we visit but there is a serious side to this also" says organiser Alisa Rose "The aim of this is to highlight and educate people regarding the horror of puppy farms in Ireland. These irresponsible breeders are simply interested in profit charging ridiculous prices for puppies, keeping the dogs in horrendous conditions, have no breeding plan o regard for the animals health and experimenting unethically with cross breeding, sometimes with shocking results.

We intend to inform and educate people. Without clients willing to part with their money these breeders cannot do business. It's up to the public to boycott them. In a lot of cases with people it is just ignorance, tey don't know what they're doing but we are appealing to them emotionally by making them aware of the plight of these dogs and practically by explaining that by buying from a substandard breeder they are likely to have a series of health problems with their puppy which they may be unable to cope with  if the dog even survives."
